Magic

Nophra was created by Kyvan, who infused its core with an inconceivable amount of his magic. This Core is the key to allowing life on Nophra to exist, as well as the very essence of Crystali magic.
Mystic Crystali have an intimate connection to this supply of magic. As it passes through their bodies, it is converted to their birth element and vented out through their tails. This process happens autonomically, but it can be controlled to an extent which is what allows them to use it intentionally. This flow of magic can sustain them entirely, meaning they have no reason to eat or drink. They can still do so for leisure though.
Common Crystali are also connected to the core, but their bodies are not built to receive as much magic as their Mystic counterparts. This means they must still eat and drink and they cannot use magic on their own.
Mystic Crystali can draw extra magic from the core to expel it at their will. Some are born with the ability to use a lot of magic right away, while others may need to work towards being able to use the slightest amount of it. The limits of its use depends on the individual and their body's ability to tolerate processing extra amounts of it. Luckily, the art of using it is a skill that can be taught and honed.
Kyvanite
Kyvanite is a mineral that appears in veins throughout Nophra. It is the crystallized remnants of excess magic from when Kyvan created Nophra and its core.
Kyvanite is comparable to something like coal or oil in the sense that it can be consumed as a fuel. It isn't as volatile or dangerous as its real life counterparts as it does not produce any dangerous byproducts and is impressively stable.
Although it is not nearly as widespread as electricity is in the real world, Kyvanite can be interpreted as such. Its use is limited by how much of it is needed to perform basic functions.
Other Lifeforms
Magic in Nophra is not limited to how Crystali in particular are connected to it. There exists plenty of creatures that evolved independently and can harness their own types of self-generated magical energy.
For example, the Mira are not connected to the core in any way, yet they still exhibit impressive illusion magic.
The dragons of Nophra also possess their own supply of magic.
